There are many reasons why you may be interested in knowing what year your motocross or enduro bike is, for example:
- You want to buy a used motorcycle and you do not want to be deceived.
- You have a motorcycle and you need spare parts but you don’t know what exact year it is.
- You want to sell your old motorcycle and you want to ask for the price that corresponds to it per year.
- Etc.
Where can you find the chassis number of your motorcycle?
If we talk about a mountain bike, which is our specialty, the chassis number is usually found, engraved with letters and punched numbers, on the steering head (steering shaft).
It can be seen just behind the front number plate or headlamp cover, whether it is a motocross or enduro bike respectively.
For about 20 or 25 years it has been mandatory for this VIN number to have 17 characters, between letters and numbers, and each manufacturer decides how to combine them to establish a pattern that serves to identify, not only the year of manufacture, but also the model, the cylinder capacity etc.
